Who is New?

Lauras200_warren.campbellThis week, Warren Campbell and Laura Guzman have joined the Exegetical Tools team. Both are fascinatingly sharp students of biblical studies and hope to serve our audience with their blogging efforts. Please check out their profiles here on our new Contributors page.

What Will We Be Offering?

We have a pretty clear vision of what we want to offer, and we hope it will be enticing enough for you to follow our blog.

  • New Books. Keep up with new works in biblical studies that come out and need to be noticed. E.g., Warren’s summary of Galatians and Christian Theology.
  • Featured Resources. Books or reference works within the last decade that we love and want to write a blurb about so everyone can know about it. E.g., this Festschrift for Doug Moo.
  • Book Reviews. Either published for the first time on the blog or, if published elsewhere already, summarized and linked PDF if available. For example, see this review of Zondervan’s New International Dictionary of New Testament Theology and Exegesis (ed. Silva) published for the first time on Exegetical Tools.
  • Content Posts. Comments on current issues in biblical studies. E.g., this summary of the SBL session on Richard Hays’ Reading Backwards.
  • Book Sales. This last week we posted two great Kindle books for $0.99 each (Silva’s Biblical Words and Spurgeon’s Lectures to His Students) and 25 people purchased them. We hope to continue spotting these deals and posting them for you.
  • Greek Videos. This is a longer-term goal that is limited by free time (which none of us have much of). These videos will include Basic Greek Videos that teach through the morphology and grammar of Greek 1 & 2; also Greek Reading Videos that lead the viewer through paragraphs (~4-8 verses); perhaps also Advanced Greek Grammar, which would look at difficult Greek grammar from different passages in the NT, with reference to advanced grammars and commentaries for explanation. The ultimate goal of these videos is to provide them free of charge and as a complete set, so anyone around the world could use them to study Greek, either for the first time, or to retain or even improve their Greek. If you have any interest in helping us with these, we could use someone with app design experience and perhaps with video editing skills to re-do all the videos professionally in the future.
  • In addition to this blog roll material, we also are building our inventory of permanent resources, including Annotated Bibliographies and Preaching Syllabuses. If you’re interested in helping with these, we would love the assistance and would give credit where it’s due.
