Greek Webinar: Hebrews 6:4-8

I’m biased, but I’d call our second Greek webinar a fun success! We worked through Hebrews 6:4-8, that thorny (pun on v. 7…) warning passage. Close attention to the Greek will automatically rule out some of the interpretations you’ve probably come across before. I am actually unavailable this Friday June 17, so unless I say otherwise, join us again next time Friday June 24 at 2pm EST. At the end, someone asked about Hebrews resources. Review Published on Calaway’s Sabbath and Sanctuary

My review has been published on Jared Calaway’s The Sabbath and the Sanctuary: Access to God in the Letter to the Hebrews and its Priestly Context (WUNT II). Review Published on Ounsworth’s “Joshua Typology in NT”

My review of Richard Ounsworth’s published dissertation (WUNT II series) has been published in WTJ 76.1. For the full PDF, click here. I enjoyed reading this work and found it a helpful addition to studies on typology in the NT. Contrary to the implication of its name, the book only treats three sections in Hebrews and looks at the relationship between Joshua and Jesus (whose Greek name is the same). He relates the spatial relationship of entering the land with the relationship…

Preaching Syllabus for Hebrews

Hebrews is rarely preached. It is considered impractical due to its heavy use of the OT, frequent quotations, and first-century argumentation and subject matter. I, however, believe it is perhaps the most practical book in the NT, since it addresses the dire situation of imminent apostasy, which is a perpetual concern for the church.
